This guide will help you create a character that will be totally awesome at battlegrounds. It does take quite a bit of gold to do this but this guide also covers some wow gold making tips.

Strategy Guide
Zygor Mastery Guide

Contents:
1) Intro
2) Funding your twink
- Techniques that work for me!
- All possible aspects of obtaining gold you will need to make an awesome twink!
3) What you will need
-How much gold (including plug in numbers for different servers!)
-Enchants
-Armor
-Weapons
-Quests (Horde and Alliance)
-Pick a duty, and focus on that (ganking for honor, running the flag, defending, etc.)
4) The Battlegrounds
-Assuming you want to make a twink to “Pwn” the BG and get that reputation bar up to where YOU want it to be!
-What’s the Best Decision for you?
5) Learning your alt
-First, choose a class
-Tips, and how to
-Pick a job for your twink, and focus on making that job easy for your level 19, 29, or 39 character!

1) Introduction
Welcome to my twinking guide, Here I will explain everything you will need to know (more in the coming posts) about twinking, including Who/what/when/where/why and HOW! This guide will (eventually) cover important, previously un-adressed information like; Funding, What you will need to accomplish, Where to concentrate your effort(defense, offense, etc.)
Whatever reason you chose to make a twink, you’ve chose the right reason. Some make twinks to “catch-up” while others do it out of boredom. Here you will learn steps you will need to take in order to meet your own needs.

2) Funding your Twink..
Okay, Lets be down to earth. not everyone has 5,000 gold to spend. You might have anywhere from nothing to 500 gold.
I’ve found a few posts on the internet about making money. there are many choices here..
A. Scam your way to financial freedom
Either you dis-approve this method or not, bottom line it makes some serious gold. Things like mass mailing “donations” and even things like 500 gold for a wrapped gray item.
B. Cash into Gold
You might have contemplated laying down the green in exhange for some gold, I’ve done this and it does work. You do get 1000 gold but the downside is, if you arent used to having that much money, it goes by way too quickly. Instead of buying that one epic, you can do things like buy the mats to make an epic item of your profession or get an alt to 300/300 of a “money making” profession. If you invest it, you will get much more in return.
C. Quest for it
With the XP into Gold with patch 1.10, this method may work. I’ve noticed I usually come up short handed in UBRS raids. I’ll earn 1 gold an hour, and make about 3-4 gold then have to repair my armor for 3 gold 38 silver. You can grind for it, and quest for it. this is a lot of work, but if your up to grinding for 500g to get an enchant for your alt, no one is stopping you.
-Breakdown
All of these methods work, including some not mentioned. mass-resell, and reselling epics, or “farming” those leet purples might work for you. Basically you need something to fund your newly acquired character.

Gold Guide
Strategy Guide
Zygor Mastery Guide
3) What you will need
A. Gold
This was mentioned above, however you will need a hefty flow of gold to buy the enchants, armor, weapons, potions, etc. the price on the server for different enchants varies, so I wont “estimate” the cost.
For Suramar, the price for enchants is usually anywhere from 20g (firey enchant) to 340g (crusader) its cheaper to buy the enchant from the enchanter, and fund the cost with your choice of income. Save your professions for making more gold.
Depending on the class, you’re really going to want different enchants than the next person and there are “customizations” for each duty you choose.
EXAMPLE:
A Rogue, specializing in flag-running for mass reputation bonus’ will want…
Chest: Health +100
Back: defense +70
Feet: Speed increase
Weapon(s): +15 agility
Hands: Agility (or attack rate)
Bracers: Agility or Stamina
Trinkets: Insignia of the alliance, and the Wool Lufa that cancels bleed effects.
Potions: Health potions, Healthstones from a warlock, Invisibility potion (more stealth), Greater fire/shadow/etc. resist potion because all those twinks are doing fire damage with their fiery weapon enchant. Thistle tea.. a lot of thistle tea. This will give you 100 energy, which you can use to lay down the ownage.
-Enchants-
Each class is going to want different enchants. Start with what you know! Mage’s don’t need strength, and warriors can’t use intellect. From there break it down to Magic and Melee classes then the Mixed category.
Magic: Mage, Warlock, Priest
Mage: Low level intellect enchants are a great place to start. here is a short list of enchants, plug in the numbers of the price on YOUR server to see how much all of this would cost you.
Enchant Price(Gold)
Enchant Item Permanent (Intellect +22) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Intellect +3) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Intellect +5) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Intellect +7) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Intellect +9) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Intellect + ________
Remember, for a mage these enchants are an awesome place to start. Use your budget to determine your overall affordability for your twink.
Warlock: Low level Stamina and health enchants are great for that level 19 warlock who just learned Life Tap at level 16, stamina becomes intellect instantly, and you get more Mana per HP if you put talent points into your improved life tap talent, which gives you 20% more mana from each cast.
Enchant Price(Gold)
Enchant Item Permanent (Stamina +1) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Stamina +3) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Stamina +5) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Stamina +7) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Stamina + ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Stamina +9) ________
Priest: Low level spirit enchants are the most in-expensive enchants, I’ve found with my playing style having a lot of spirit on a priest or any caster, cuts down massively on eating/drinking time. if you have enough spirit you can actually sit down and regain all of your health in 30 seconds. you can start with low level enchants, and work up to things like Mighty Spirit (+21 spirit on weapon)
Enchant Price (Gold)
Enchant Item Permanent (Spirit +1) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Spirit +20) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Spirit +3) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Spirit +5) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Spirit +7) ________
Enchant Item Permanent (Spirit +9) ________
Enchant Item Temporary (Spirit +3) ________
Enchant Item Temporary (Spirit +6) ________

4) Armor
Everyone starts somewhere. I know what you’re thinking, “That level 19 sword is 250g?” or “Who would pay 600g for that level 38 sheild?” You can get the same results, (equal or lesser) and test the waters to see if twinking is for YOU. below are my suggestions on where to start for the Green quality armor, that best suits the class you’ve chosen. just type in whats in the quotations, into the auction house search. so if you have a rogue and want “of the tiger” leave the specifications blank, and type “of the tiger” and viola!
Casters

Mage:
If you can play a mage to its full potential, you know how not to get hit. if you are of that skill level go with “Of Intellect” items, the boost in mana will help your mana sheild, and each int. point for a mage increases damage! if you cant hang with it, go with “Of the Eagle” the extra stamina as well.

Priest:
Though I havn’t played priests much I would say “Of the Owl” because if you have a lot of spirit you can re-generate your health and mana while you sit(no food/water) or while you run/travel between fights. Assuming you make a shadow priest, also go with “of intellect” seeing as how you can heal yourself, stamina shouldn’t be that important to a good priest player.

Warlock:
Ah, my personal specialty. Definitely go with “Of the Eagle” first. its got the intellect you need for mana, and the stamina you need… to turn into more mana. many different opinions here, but “Of Stamina” will benefit you too, as a close second.

Druid:
A casting druid will want different things, its up to you. A mix of both worlds I would say go with “Of the Gorilla” for the strength and intellect. a Druid wont have as much mana as say, a gnome mage. so the strength is more of a backup. if you’re really playing like a caster, go all out and choose “Of Intellect” or “Of the Eagle”

Paladin:
Plus Healing Spells. Period. If you’re a casting paladin your job should be to heal the snot out of the flag carrier (if your co-operation is good) “Of the Gorilla” if you aren’t going to be casting many healing spells, and if YOU want to run the flag definitely skip the noise and trek to “Of the Eagle” for the increased mana to protect you, and the increased health to help you along.
Melee:

Gold Guide
Strategy Guide
Zygor Mastery Guide

Warrior:
Defensive: A Defensive warrior will want to go with “Of Stamina” first off, because a warrior with 1,000hp is hard for a “normal” BG player to kill by himself. so you’ll win by schere HP mass, along with your stun+bandage or potion tactic.
Offensive: An offensive warrior will want “Of Power” and “Of the Bear” mixed. The added attack power will help you finish off those weak “normal” people, and the stamina and strength will only add to it, to make you a smashing behemoth of doom to be reckoned with!

Rogue:
A rogue should first decide what his job is. “Are you going to run the flag?” or “Are you going to kill helpless people?”
If you’re running the flag: Go with “Of the Monkey” the agility is there for the hopeful proc of a crit, and the stamina is there for the extra-whacks you will be able to take. also enchant your boots with “Increased Running Speed”
If you’re killing people: Go with “Of the Tiger” The Strength and Agility will boost your attack, you can also mix in “Of power” wherever you find it.

Hunter:
Hunters can either be ranged, or up front flag runners depending on your level (remember 19,29,39,49) so you can assist with aspect of the pack, along with your increased running speed … onto the armor.
Ranged: Stick with “Of the Falcon”(agi+int) hands down, that is hunter gear. you will be able to stay back and crit with the added agility, and cast Aimed shot and arcane shot (level dependency) as many times as you need to.

Melee: Melee hunters should go for “Of the Tiger” as well (i know some are duplicate) Agility and Stamina is the way to go for the starting out hunter. hopefully he’ll land a crit, and he’ll stay alive to crit with the added HP.
Dedicate time to staying a certain level and your twink will grow!

This guide gives a good basic understanding of how to win Arathi Basin. This guide is what I call a map of success to winning at AB.

Gold Guide

Strategy Guide
Zygor Mastery Guide

Do you find your group getting defeated extremely easy over and over again? Follow this guide and you can see the odds turning around in your favor. Not only does it explain the different nodes available it also gives good tactics and different advantages that can be used.

The main idea of Arathi Basin (AB for short) is to control the flags for as long as you can.

Each flag you get gives resources to your team and the first to reach 2000 wins. If you get 5 it is possible to win in 6 minutes and this includes the time waiting at the start.

Ok the 5 nodes which you can take are:

Stables: This is always taken by alliance at the start. It is probably sensible to send somebody with a slow mount and not great armour to guard it as they can always call for others to help them. It can be accessed from a bridge on the river side and also from the mine and blacksmith so can be attacked easily if unguarded.

Mine: This is basically on a lower level than the rest of the map. You don’t need to go into the mine but I sue it as a place to shadow meld if I need to defend it. It is easily defended because it only has 2 routes to get to it from either side and can be seen from a long way. This is always contested.

Lumber Mill: This is the same as the mine except that it is above instead of below the map. Because of this it’s the easiest place to defend in game because you can see all around you. I would suggest taking this before the mine as it’s easier to defend and helps the rest of the fight.

Farm: The horde equilivant of the Stables. Same as the stables let a worse equipped guy defend it through out the battle. The GY is fairly far away from the flag so it takes longer to get there than at other places except the blacksmith.

Blacksmith: This is slap bang in the middle of the map and most people normally rush here. If either team takes it, it means they can follow on to try to take the others in quick succession.

But it’s the hardest to defend. There are 2 bridges connecting it to the rest of the land as it is an island. Also there are another 2 places which can be accessed by swimming from the other side. This is the most important place on the map because it can attack everywhere else easily.

Tactics:

Normal:
In PUGS (Pick up Groups) don’t expect to win 4-1 or 5-0. The best bet is to go for 3-2. IF you have a large amount of people with epic mounts id suggest rushing to the Blacksmith and the lumber mill and taking those. Make sure you take farm or stables depends which side you are. Then place 3 people on each flag and have the others all attacking one place so they don’t have much chance to attack back.

Zerg:
This is a tactic which I use in premade groups. We send around 1-2 people to each node except stables/farm and blacksmith. 1 person stays at the stables while the others at mine and lumber mill defend as well. All of the rest of the raid take the blacksmith but do not stop and plough through leaving 1 person there yet again. Then we usually use this force to help take LM or mine if needing help or just go for farm. Then we camp the graveyard of the hall so there is no threat.

Advantages:

IF you are rank 6 or over which most people are at 60 then go to the hall of champions not sure of horde version and buy some pots. These are a lot cheaper because they can only be used in BG but are very effective and help a lot. Also if you can it is wise to purchase a battle standard as 10% health is quite a big improvement if you have around 5000 like I do. Also make you have food and water from a mage so you can quickly get health and mana back before going of to fight again. Also bandages are useful but not entirely useful because you will probably be hit when using them that is why pots are generally better.

Orcs, elves and 10 million paying subscribers: World of Warcraft is a PC gaming phenomenon. Three years since its release and the online game is still riding high, but could 2008 finally see it face some competition?

Blizzard, the creators of WoW, and their cleverly designed virtual world have blown the Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) genre wide open. Previously a niche gaming offshoot, it is now worth more than $1bn in the west alone.

World of Warcraft is primarily responsible for this growth, adding polish and accessibility to the rough template originally developed by pioneers like Everquest.

“With World of Warcraft we tried to maximize the fun, pick-up-and-play aspects, and make an MMO that was as approachable as possible without losing that lasting depth,” said the game’s lead producer, J Allen Brack. “That resounded with players on a much greater scale than we’d ever anticipated.”

A new expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King, is due out later this year and is likely to shoot to the top of the charts. But by this time WoW will face the first batch of credible challengers to its online gaming crown.

Worthy competitor

The biggest is Warhammer Online. The game has a similar look and feel to WoW but has far more emphasis on player versus player battle. This large-scale combat will see groups of opposing players battling it out for land and virtual bragging rights. Throw in the Games Workshop licence and you have a potentially worthy competitor.

Oli Welsh, MMO editor of Eurogamer.net agrees: “Warhammer will probably get a little closer to World of Warcraft because it specifically appeals to hardcore fans who are pretty bored with WoW at the moment.”

Another challenger due at around the same time is Age of Conan. This grittier take on fantasy allows players to build and conquer cities, and boasts a more dynamic combat system than the online gaming norm.

Elsewhere, NCsoft’s Aion has the potential to add more depth to the usual conflict with three factions – two playable and one computer-controlled – battling for control.

Lord of the Rings

There is also a substantial new update due for Lord of the Rings Online, which was originally released in 2007 and has quietly built a decent reputation – even if the subscriber numbers are dwarfed by WoW.

“The Lord of the Rings Online isn’t just combat,” says Ed Relf, who heads up the project for publishers Codemasters. “The focus is on faithfully recreating the fantasy world of Middle Earth in an online universe.”

The consoles will also provide some belated competition when NCsoft launches its MMO title for the PS3 in 2009.

Publicly, at least, most of the competitors see WoW as a positive for the market.

“World of Warcraft has been a blessing for the genre and has opened up massively multiplayer gaming for millions of people all around the world,” said Erling Ellingsen, product manager at Conan developer Funcom.

And Blizzard itself is magnanimous: “Rather than look at the new wave of titles as competitors, we see them as games that will further broaden the overall appeal of online gaming – and we’re looking forward to playing them too,” said Brack.

But while the market currently remains dominated by swords and sorcery the real growth is likely to be in less fantastical settings. “I expect The Agency (spies), All Points Bulletin (crime) and Lego Universe to do really, really well,” says Eurogamer.net’s Welsh.

Younger gamers

Titles aimed at casual and younger gamers are another growth area. Disney’s Club Penguin and Toontown Online have been successful in attracting the pre-teen audience – and the latter has over a million subscribers. Jagex’s Runescape, which takes the more traditional role-playing setting and repackages it for a younger age group, has a similar number of paying players.

Relf recognises the trend: “One of the biggest growth opportunities within the online gaming space is represented by the relatively untapped younger or more casual gaming audience.”

Welsh sounds a word of warning though.

“There’s no such thing as a casual MMO player. Successful MMOs turn casual gamers into hardcore gamers – it’s how they work, economically.”

So what happens next in online gaming? Ellingsen thinks diversity is key. “If the message the market receives is that you need to create World of Warcraft in order to be successful, no one is going to dare do it. I truly hope that we will see a lot more niche online games that will get a healthy number of players.”

Welsh argues that price is the real driver. “The growth of the free-to-play market in the west will really help grow the audience for this kind of gaming.”

Diversity, price and big brands like Lego will all help widen the online gaming market, but Relf urges caution to any potential entrant. “World of Warcraft is the iPod of the MMO genre. It’s a phenomenon that may never be replicated again in this space.”

What is so great about World of Warcraft? Let’s see….

Many times players enter battleground after battleground, only to meet with abject failure. Players just sitting around doing nothing, often not following leaders’ orders, or completely ignoring orders and just going for kills…it’s a mess out there! No matter how much you yell and complain, no battle ever turns out the way it should. But there is hope on the horizon.

Step1

Don’t sweat it. It’s only a game. The Alliance/Horde WILL NOT crumble if this battle goes sour. Your equipment will remain relatively intact, you will still gain honor and get a commendation, and the world will continue to turn.

Step2

Don’t swear at people. While you’d think this is obvious, so many people do it when things don’t go their way. This is a surefire way to get the troops on your side demoralized, angry and, above all, in the perfect mood to ignore you.

Step3

Come up with a plan! Nothing irks experienced players more than a bunch of goofs who sit around with no plan. Think of what has and has not worked for you. Could you have done this better? What if you did this another way? Offer up suggestions! Most people are happy to have almost any plan instead of no plan at all.

For even more tips, visit this handy guide.

Step4

DON’T ZERG THE FLAG! In plain terms, this means “do not rush the flag.” While this applies particularly to Warsong Gulch, it also holds true for Arathi Basin and Alterac Valley. Running straight up to the flag/resource point and expecting to capture it straight off almost never works. It is a great way to start things off on a bad foot and put your team at an immediate disadvantage. The only way it does work is if your entire team commits to the assault and works together.

Step5

Move in teams. Going at it alone is one of the easiest ways to get yourself killed quickly. Ever wonder why the other team scores so many honorable kills? Take a look. 9 times out of 10 it’s because they move in teams, assault positions in groups and don’t act on their own.

Step6

Take and HOLD resources! In Arathi Basin, the idea is to capture and hold strategic resources in order to collect enough resources to give your side the advantage. Quite often, what you’ll see people do is run up to a resource (Blacksmith, Lumber Mill, Mine, Stable or Farm), begin to capture it and leave it. Do not do this! This leaves the resource that you may have just fought and bled for completely open for some enterprising enemy to take back unopposed!

Step7

Coordinate! One of the biggest handicaps a team can give itself is not to communicate. You have a great advantage real soldiers don’t: you can instantly talk to anyone else in your army. So why don’t you? Find out where they are. Do they need help? Do you need help? Talk to each other. This cannot be stressed enough! Communication is key!

Step8

Be a high level. The battlegrounds are divided by level: levels 10-19 in the first bracket, 20-29 in the next, 30-39, 40-49 and 50-60. A level 12 character will never fight in the same battle as a level 56. What this means is that the level 19, 29, 39, 49 and 60 characters rule the battlegrounds. Wait until you are at least level 17/27/37/47/57 to fight in a battleground (unless you really like getting creamed constantly).

At some point, even if you avoid battlegrounds, you will encounter PvP situations. As a hunter, the key to surviving fights is to keep your range. Keeping your range may be easy, up to a point, but keeping your range while managing to damage the enemy is another matter. Try these techniques, and you may find you not only defeat the enemy easier, but annoy the hell out of them to boot! These techniques can also be used on mobs.

CLICK HERE for best hunter techniques.

The 360

This technique allows you to spin around as you keep your distance from the enemy, and shoot at him at the same time.

1. First of all, as soon as you create your new hunter, even at level 1, practice jumping with the spacebar and revolving in mid air, so you do a complete 360 degree turn. Do this while you are moving forward. You hold down ‘W’ to move forward, and hold down the right mouse button to revolve your hunter. It’s hard to begin with but keep on trying to turn 360 degrees as you move forward.

2. Now that you’ve gotten used to this spin, target some low level mobs and let them come at you. Turn away, run, and do some 360 turns as you escape. This is just to get you used to the feel of the manouvre in combat, and to help you avoid panicking when you may be doing it in a proper hard fight.

3. When your hunter progresses in level, he will gain some skills that can be used while you are running. Autoshot can only be done when you are stationary, but serpent sting, arcane shot and concussive shot can be used while you are moving, so theoretically you can use those to shoot the enemy as you keep your range.

4. Assign hotkeys to those three skills. Do so by pressing ‘esc’, and choosing ‘key bindings’. Assign these skills to keys 2,3 and 4. The reason for this is that they are close to your movement keys (W,A,S and D).

5. Try hitting another low level mob. Start with a single shot to get his attention, then turn and run. As you are running, do your 360 degree turn as you jump. As you turn, try using your ring finger or index finger to hit one of the hotkeys (2,3 or 4). For example, if you are running away from an enemy, you can turn and run, holding down the W key with your middle finger, then use the other fingers to press the 3 key, which may be the one you used to assign concussive shot to. As you jump in mid-air and spin around, and are still moving forward, you will manage to hit him with concussive shot without having to stop, turn, then shoot. So this technique allows you keep moving forward without letting the enemy gain any ground on you.

6. Keep on practicing this technique by moving forward, jumping, turning and shooting at the enemy with the hotkeys. It’s very tricky to begin with, but certainly worth it. Enemy players will think you have some illegal bot working for you, or just feel disgruntled that you are such a tricky enemy. Eventually, this manouvre will become second nature.

Wingclip

This skill, when obtained via training, can be used to run away from enemies which have gained ground on you. Wingclip is gained at level 12, and slows the enemy to 50% of speed for 10 seconds.

1. Assign wingclip to your middle mouse button. You must get used to using this every time an enemy engages you in melee. It won’t always guarantee you escape melee, but it sure does help.

2. If the enemy isn’t quite close enough to hit you in melee, but you aren’t far enough away to be able to shoot at him, don’t try running away - it won’t work! Just run towards him and wingclip him, then run. This is how to keep range with wingclip.

3. Just to repeat. Always winglip the enemy in melee. Just do it, and get used to hitting that middle mouse button.

4. Tauren hunters - warstomp should also be used. Make sure this life-saving talent is in the action bar. You’ll need it!

Common sense awarness

So many players take for granted the simple things in WoW, but the hunter cannot aford to be so complacent. Follow these rules to gain a proper awarness of you environment.

1. This is very simple, but so underused. By holding down the left mouse button, you can see 360 degrees around your hunter, even when moving. Get used to doing this as you travel, or when in combat. You never know what’s going to creep up behind you.

2. Do not, and I repeat - do not listen to MP3 players when playing WoW. When playing Wow, listen to WoW. You must be aware of enemy rogues and druids who are stealthed. They often make a conspicuous sound when stealthed. If you can’t hear that, and act on it, they’ll kill you. Wingclip the stealthed enemy, and keep your hunters mark on him. As soon as you see an enemy rogue, mark him, then he can’t go invisible.

3. Look at the minimap! Hunters can track beasts and humanoids, so all visible enemies can be seen on the minimap. Don’t let them hide behind a tree when you can see them on the minimap.

The anti-rogue trap

At some point, some stealthed rogue is going to catch you unawares, and backstab you. You can’t avoid this at all times, but you can take precautions. If you think you can hear a stealthed rogue, or saw one in proximity, do the following.

1. Place a trap on the ground (you gain traps as you gain level - immolation trap at level 16). Any trap will work, but the freezing trap is the most beneficial.

2. As soon as you place your trap, or actually press the button on the action bar, don’t let the avatar do the trap placement animation. You don’t want to let the rogue see you place the trap. Immediately tap the W key, or another movement key to break the animation.

3. Once the trap is set, stand just in front of it.

4. The rogue will inevitably come behind you, stealthed, and backstab you. The trap will be sprung, and he will become visible because of the trap. He would have become visible as he stabbed you, but if you placed a freezing trap, he will become a visible and motionless rogue. When he becomes visible, either get your range (if he’s frozen), or wingclip him and keep make your range.

5. If you see the trap disappear too quickly, this means that the rogue has disarmed your trap , in which case you must quickly turn and wingclip him. Tauren may use warstomp in this situation.

6. This technique also applies to stealthed druids.

Do you want to learn even more great hunter techniques? CLICK HERE

Now, practice, practice and practice.

It has been a little while since my last article but I wanted to share with you my thoughts on essential
World of Warcraft add-ons for role playing guilds. My last article focused on essential add-ons for
normal WoW guilds. These add-ons still apply to role playing guilds.
However, there are a few more add-ons that a WoW guild that’s focused on roleplaying will need. In
my experience, these add-ons are the best and often found by role players to be essential to obtain the best role playing experience in World of Warcraft. The add-ons I speak of are Lore, ImmersionRP,
FlagRSP, Eloquence, and Outfitter. Normally I would include ephemeral on the list since it was the
best RP add-on for a time but it is no longer supported by WoW.

Do you want to know how to farm dragon sinew that you can sell for 100+ gold each?

Lore is an add-on for WoW that allows players to speak in languages not usually allowed by their race. So a humans can speak Darnassian and so forth. However just as WoW does not allow cross faction communication, neither does Lore. So the benefits for this add-on are only really for role-playing purposes with your own faction. Lore also will translate anyone speaking in another language of your Faction so it helps you understand know what someone else is saying. Finally, Lore has languages that don’t exist in Wow such as High Elven and Lore can be used to create customized languages. However Lore can only translate a custom language if it has the files for that language so anyone you speak to in your custom language will not understand it unless you give them the file for that language. This is great way for setting up a secret language among your guild members. It allows you to communicate secretly to someone in public without others understanding what is said. Whether the custom languages are cross faction supported or not is unknown.

FlagRSP is an add-on meant for role playing by offering the option of you to flag yourself in or out of
“role playing” character. Anyone that is using FlagRSP will be able to see you as flagged for role
playing. No more typing (roleplaying) before or after every sentence. Essentially, this add-on will other
s to recognize that you are role playing. Furthermore, the add-on always you to add character
information and basic information for any Roleplayer character sheet such as last name, title, and
description.

ImmersionRP is an add-on much like FlagRSP but it is made to also work with FlagRSP and all other
similar Addons such as MyRoleplay and will communicate on their data channels so long as you have
that addon for ImmersionRP to work in conjunction with.

Eloquence is basically your basic spellchecker. It checks spelling and grammar of what you say
before sending to any channel. It will automatically send the correct spelling and such to the channel to
make your speech and etiquette more eloquent. Because role playing in MMORPG is dependent on
typing, now your role playing won’t be harmed by bad spelling and grammar. Eloquence also has the
nice feature that allows you to alter your words to fit certain slang or accent that is more suitable for
your character’s race.

Outfitter isn’t really a role playing specific add-on but it is useful. What this add-on does is allow you
to instantly change outfits that you pre-designate. You can have any number of outfits with your armor
and other clothing to create and choose from. This allows you to change to a number of clothing from
formal wear to armor depending on the role playing occasion. This is good not only for role playing
purposes but also good for normal game play as it can let a tank switch from a tanking armor build to a
damage build on the fly.

So there you have it. Now you can go on and role play your favorite WoW character

Find out where epic items drop in the Un’Goro Crater that will sell for over 175+ gold each?

I don’t know how much of this people already know, but I’m going to post a little about combat tables just so it’s all here. What I’m about to say has direct implications for how you gear yourself for the end-game, or any time you fight mobs higher level than you.

How would you like to learn grinding rules of thumb that every player should live by?

A combat table is how WoW resolves the result of a physical attack. Every time you attack (or someone attacks you) the game builds a table showing all the possible results and how likely they are, and then rolls a virtual 100-sided die (actually it rolls a 10,000-sided die, but let’s keep things simple for now). Suppose you attack a mob your own level that has a 5% block/parry/dodge chance, and you have a 20% crit chance. The combat table will look like this:

<col></col>

1-5: dodge
6-10: parry
11-15: block
16-20: miss
21-40: critical hit
41-100: regular hit

So the server builds this table, rolls a 100-sided die, and just checks the table to see what happened. If the server rolls a 45, your attack is a regular hit. If it’s a 21, you crit, if the server rolls a 4, the mob dodges, and so on.

Notice something: crits and regular hits are checked for at the same time. Wow does not check to see if you hit, and then check to see if you crit. This makes sense from a coding standpoint, since the game has to make only one check per attack rather than two.

What really happens when the game builds a combat table is that it puts in all the “bad” things that could happen (e.g., if you’re attacking, it puts in the dodge/miss/parry/block chance), and then fills in whatever’s left with regular hit slots. Crit chance replaces regular hit slots. So suppose you’re fighting a mob with a 50% total chance to dodge/parry/block/miss. That leaves a total of 50% chance to get a regular hit. If you have a 60% crit chance, your total chance to crit is … that’s right, 50%. Past 50%, there are no more regular hit slots on the table to be replaced.

What does all of this mean for you? A couple of things:

+crit and +hit are equivalent in most cases. Think about the combat table above. If you add +1% hit to your gear, you have turned a 1% miss slot into a 1% hit slot. Overall dps increase: +1% of your regular damage. If you add +1% crit to your gear instead of the +hit, what have you done? You’ve replaced a 1% hit slot with a 1% crit slot. You’ve gained a 1% chance to do 2x damage, but lost a 1% chance to do 1x damage. Overall dps increase: +1% of your regular damage.

So when deciding between +hit and +crit, most of the time all you really need to ask is whether you have any abilities that proc off of crits (like a fury warrior’s Flurry) or whether your crits do an abnormal amount of damage (like a marksman hunter or a feral druid). If the answer is yes, take +crit over +hit. If the answer is no, take +hit if you have any commonly used abilities that can’t crit (like sunder armor). Otherwise, personal preference - the total dps increase is the same either way.

It’s very possible to have wasted crit chance by the end of the game. +hit and +crit are not necessarily equal when you have a very large crit chance. Any time you’re fighting a mob higher level than you (specifically, any time the mob’s defense skill is higher than your weapon skill, before +skill), you have a chance to land what is called “glancing blow.” There is no way to reduce this chance (it used to be you could reduce it through +weapon skill, but not any more). By the time you’re fighting mobs three levels higher than you, the glancing blow chance is 40%. Your combat table, before we replace regular hits with crits, now looks like this:

<col></col>

1-5 dodge
6-10 parry
11-15 block
16-23 miss (a +3 level mob normally adds 3% to your miss chance)
24-63 glancing blow
64-100 regular hit

Notice that only 37% of the table is devoted to regular hits (this is your “crit cap”). This means that against a level +3 mob you can use a maximum of a 37% crit chance. If you want to use any more than that, you’ll have to use +hit gear to convert miss slots into regular hit slots, which you can then overwrite with additional +crit.

Dual-wielders are in an even worse predicament. Without +hit gear, a dual-wielder’s table against a level +3 mob looks like this:

<col></col>

1-5 dodge
6-10 parry
11-15 block
16-42 miss (+3% for mob level, +19% for dual-wielding)
43-82 glancing blow
83-100 regular hit

There’s only room for a 17% crit chance on this table. If the dual-wielder wants to use a higher crit chance, he’ll have to pile on the +hit gear to turn more miss slots into hit slots, and then he’ll be able to convert the hit slots into crit slots.

Hunters are in a good position for glancing blows, because glancing blows apply only to melee physical attacks. Thus, even against a +3 level mob, a hunter will have a large number of regular hit slots he can safely convert to crits.

The other side of the coin: crushing blows. Any mob three or more levels above you has a chance to land what is called a “crushing blow.” This is a hit that does 150% of normal damage (as opposed to 200% for a crit). A level +3 mob has a 15% chance of landing a crushing blow. As I stated previously in my warrior thread, as of patch 2.0 +defense skill no longer defends against crushing blows. But a very high block chance can. Look at the table for a warrior with a 10% block chance, 5% miss/dodge/parry chance, who uses shield block (for +75% block) fighting a +3 mob, remembering we first fill up the table with results that are bad for the attacker:

<col></col>

1-84 block
85-90 dodge
91-95 parry
96-100 miss

The warrior has so many slots filled with bad results for the mob that there is no room for any good results - while shield block is up, the mob has a 0% chance to get a normal hit, 0% chance to get a crushing blow, and 0% chance to crit. Thus if your block chance is ridiculously high, you can push crushing blows right off the table.

A caveat. There is a theory among WoW number-crunchers that “yellow damage” (e.g., heroic strike, sinister strike) is immune to glancing blows in the same way that ranged damage is. This theory has apparently not been proven, but it seems to be correct. Thus if your crit chance is over your crit cap, you probably still get to use the extra crit chance for your special melee attacks.

That’s all I really had to say about combat tables and how to avoid over-critting. If that’s all you care about, stop reading now.

Building your own combat table. If you want to build your own combat table, here’s how you do it:

Mob’s defense skill = mob level x 5
Mob’s weapon skill = mob level x 5

1. Assume the mob has a 5% dodge, a 5% parry chance, and a 5% block chance. Some mobs have more, but the standard assumption is that the basic dodge/parry/block chance is 5%. Unlike players, mobs can dodge/parry/block even if you’re behind them. The result will show up as “miss” instead of “dodge,” but the net effect is the same. We now have the first 15% of the table filled.

2. If your weapon skill is higher than the mob’s defense skill, subtract the mob’s defense from your weapon skill. Multiply the result by 0.04% and reduce the mob’s dodge, parry, and block chance by that amount. Thus if the mob has a defense of 200 and I have a weapon skill of 205, the mob gets 5 x 0.4 = -0.2% dodge, -0.2% parry, and -.02% block.

3. Add in miss chance. Miss chance is determined by one of two linear functions. Start with a 5% miss chance. Add 19% if you dual-wield (for a base DW miss chance of 24%). If the mob’s defense (mob level x 5) is 10 or more points higher than your weapon skill, each point of extra defense counts for 0.1%. If the mob’s defense is 11 or more points higher than your weapon skill, each point of extra defense counts for 0.2%. Thus if I have a 300 weapon skill and I’m fighting a level 63 mob, the mob has 315 defense. He has 15 more points of skill than I do, so each point counts for 0.2%. 0.2% x 15 = 3% extra miss chance. If I have a 300 weapon skill and I’m fighting a level 62 mob, the mob has 310 defense. He has only 10 more points of skill than I do, or 0.1% x 10 = 1% extra miss chance.

4. Reduce miss chance with +hit gear. Just open up your character sheet in game and check the melee tab for the hit rating tooltip. Subtract your +hit% from the miss chance on the table.

3. Add in glancing blows. Glancing blow chance = (mob’s weapon skill - your defense) x 2% - 15%. Your defense, for this formula, is capped at 5x your level. So if you have 300+150 defense and the mob is level 63, the formula is (315 - 300) x 2% - 15% = 15%.

4. Add in regular hit chance. Whatever room is left on the table is your chance to score a regular hit.

5. Add in critical hit chance. Replace regular hit chance with critical hit chance until you run out of crit chance or you run out of regular hit chance, whichever comes first.

Using these five steps, you can build your own combat table using your specific profile against any mob scenario you like, and figure out exactly how much +crit and +hit you need to optimize your dps.

Do you want to know how you can make money as a hunter or warrior no matter what level you are or what continent you’re on?

First of all, the World of Warcraft is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game or also called MMORPG for short. Here, you will go on quests, team up with other players living in another part of the world, and you can also fight other players. The World of Warcraft is indeed one of the most popular online games today. Here, you will not only play against AI, but you will play with real players that are situated in different parts of the world. You can choose from different characters and customize that character according to your preferences.

Now in order to make money in the World of Warcraft, you have to consider that it will all start at the beginning. Although you won’t be actually making big money slaying low level characters and at your level, you will see that it is crucial for you to choose your profession early in the game. Perfecting your profession will take time so it is important that you should be patient.

Fishing in the game is a great way to earn some money. Although it may take some time for you to catch a fish, much more to catch a rare one, you will see that fishing can definitely bring home that bacon. In time, you will see that catching a rare fish that is in high demand in the World of Warcraft can eventually bring you lots of money.

You can also try perfecting the auction house. Here, you will have a chance to trade with other players or bid in their products. This will expand your wealth. All you need to do is know how to buy and sell and know what items can really sell in an auction.

Mining for minerals is also a very lucrative way to earn money especially if you get a chance to get a rare form of mineral. Getting a rare mineral that is in high demand to other players can bring in tons of money in the game.

Going on quests is also a sure fire way to earn money in the game. By completing each quest, you will be able to earn either money or rare items that are in high demand. The great thing about this method is that not only that you will earn money killing monsters and completing the quest, but you will also get to level up faster.

These are the things that you have to remember when you want to make money in the World of Warcraft. By mastering a specific profession, or by completing different kinds of quests, you will be able to earn a lot of money.

Always remember that money is essential in the game and it is also essential in order for you to level up. Having money means that you will be able to buy high end weapons, armor, shields and skills, which is essential in leveling up.

Heroic Mode Dungeons in World of Warcraft.
Choose a Dungeon you want to run on Heroic mode.

Instructions:

Step 1:
Choose a Dungeon you want to run on Heroic mode. Your choice of dungeons affects what you need to do to make it heroic.

Step 2:
Grind reputation with your Dungeon’s faction until you hit Revered. If you choose a Hellfire dungeon, you need to be Revered with either Honor Hold or Thrallmar. If you choose a Coilfang Resevoir dungeon, grind rep with Cenarion Expedition. Auchindown requires Lower City (of Shattrath) reputation, Tempest Keep requires Sha’tar reputation and the Cavers of Time requires Keepers of time reputation.

Step 3:
Find your faction quartermaster once you hit Revered.

Step 4:
Purchase the Key. All keys will be marked with something to the effect of “opens Heroic mode for (location X)”.

Step 5:
Make sure everyone in your intended dungeon group is keyed for Heroic mode. If any one of your party members is NOT keyed, they will not be able to zone into the Heroic instance!

Step 6:
Right-click on your portrait once you are in the instance of your choice. Find the Difficulty tab, and chance the setting from Normal to Heroic. Note that this can only be done by the Party Leader and only if ALL the party members are keyed for the Heroic dungeon being attempted.

Step 7:
Enjoy your Heroic dungeon!

*** *** ***

WoW *** WoW *** WoW ***

Heroic Mode Dungeons in World of Warcraft

As players reach level 70 and begin to work on their Karazhan attunement, run Dungeon 3 instances and begin to gather the gear set that will carry them through Tier 4 and Tier 5, they will begin to consider playing the five man instances of the Burning Crusade on Heroic mode. Much like in games of yore when we beat our favorite game and then proceeded to replay it on god mode for extra bragging rights, Blizzard has introduced a game mechanic that makes dungeon re playability sensible and valuable for the average player.

Heroic mode dungeons require reputation based keys from each of the five Dungeon 3 factions. Revered with Honor Hold is required for the Hellfire Citadel key, Cenarion Expedition for the Coilfang Reservoir key, Lower City for the Auchindoun key, Shattar for the Tempest Keep key and finally Keepers of Time for the Caverns of Time key.

Once you reach Revered with a given faction, you can purchase the Heroic key from the faction Quartermaster, and the group leader may then select dungeon difficulty in the group options tab on his picture tool tip. So why run Slave Pens on hard mode, you ask? Well, the answer is gear, fun, and relevant quests.

Thus far I have seen the vast majority of epic loot available in Karazhan and from the first boss Maulgar in Gruul’s Lair, and I can attest that many Heroic rare and epic grade items are superior to the raid sets available currently. Blizzard has stated that they will be looking at these sets to provide a much needed buff, but until that time, the smart player is learning Heroics and gathering the best loot possible.

Difficulty is scaled dramatically. Five decently geared level 70 players entering non-Heroic Slave Pens would have very little trouble plowing through the instance, however Heroic Slave Pens requires precise actions, focus and a well skilled and reactive team. Balance, crowd control and constant vigilance is essential as every mob can one shot a healer or DPS and healing the tank is a constant strain on mana and timing efficiency.

The concept introduced by Blizzard is truly exceptional. They have created an avenue that normal players can find raid quality gear with just their local group of friends. Raid guilds can continue to improve their players and gear during off-nights or when all available content has been cleared, and feel as though their time is put to good use. Dungeon re playability has long been an issue for MMOs and this has made huge strides towards rectifying those problems.

I look forward to the day when I can attempt a Heroic Black Morass.

oldridge Valley is the Dwarf and Gnome starting area. Both are arguably the least played races Alliance side, but that’s what you get when you have women that no sane man would touch. The one thing this area has going for it is that no matter what class you want to play on the Alliance, either a Dwarf or Gnome can be that class. It is also the best protected area of the game, offering mountains on all sides with only one entrance, a cramped and trogg filled cave.

The purpose of this is to tell you just how to get around this starting zone. It is somewhat confusing considering its size. Only Horde areas get larger and more confusing than this area.

Quests

Coldridge Valley, while confusing at times, has pretty much every quest linked in some way. None of the Quest Givers are off of the beaten path, so to speak, so you can find them all with relative ease. Even the mobs are fairly spread out, so you aren’t fighting a quest mob and his 2 buddies every time you try to do something.

You start the zone with a nice little cut scene related to your race. This happens every time you make a new character. You can skip it if you just want to play, though.

Your first quest in the area starts at Sten Stoutarm. He is easy to spot since he has the big yellow exclamation point over his head. All quest givers will have these. Occasionally you will find one that has a silver or gray exclamation point, which means they will have a quest for you when you have gained a few levels.

On another note, when you can turn a quest in to a quest giver, they will have a yellow question mark over their head. They will also show up on your minimap. Those that you can’t turn in yet have a silver or gray question mark over their head.

Quest - Dwarven Outfitters

What do we have here? You look as though you might need something to keep your hands warm, hm?

I’ll tell you what would help: a pair of nice, warm gloves. And, being the kind soul that I am, I’d be more than happy to provide you with a suitable pair. I’ve one condition, however.

I need you to go get me some wolf meat. Nice arrangement, hm? You bring me some wolf meat, and I’ll make sure you don’t lose any digits to frostbite. Well, what do you say?

Quest Objectives Sten Stoutarm would like 8 pieces of Tough Wolf Meat.

This is an easy quest. Just go a little south until you see wolves, and start killing them. They don’t always drop the meat, but it drops more often than not by a large margin. Once you’re done, turn it back into him for 2 more quests and to open up a quest on another character.

Quest - A New Threat

I hope you’re here to lend us a hand, rogue. After the last trogg attack, we could use all the help we can get.

I hear the buggers have been popping up all across the lands, and it seems Coldridge Valley is no exception. They’ve been spotted all over the hills to the southeast and near the frozen lake.

And that’s not all, just a few nights ago, they attacked and overran our camp to the west!

We’re a bit shorthanded here, lad, and we need strong arms to help drive the troggs back.

Quest Objectives Balir Frosthammer wants you to kill 6 Rockjaw Troggs and 6 Burly Rockjaw Troggs.

This quest is a bit tougher than the wolves, but not a lot. Rockjaw Troggs are easy to find, but the Burly Rockjaw Troggs tend to be a bit more difficult. Just look a little further south from the wolves and you should find them ok.

Quest - Encrypted Rune

While you were helping me out, this rune was given to me to pass on to you. Take some time to read it when you have a chance. I’m thinkin’ it came from the rogue trainer Solm. Take a gander at it and go find him inside Anvilmar when you’ve a chance. Read the Encrypted Rune and speak to Solm Hargrin in Coldridge Valley.

This quest is the class quest given to you after completing your first quest. It is different for every class, though they do share a common theme; go talk to your class trainer.

Quest - Coldridge Valley Mail Delivery

Hm, I don’t suppose you’d be willing to do a favor for me, lad? A stack of letters came through the pass today, but I don’t have the time to send them along.

They’re all addressed to Talin Keeneye. You can find him to the west down the road. He’s set up a camp next to the frozen lake.

What do you say?

Quest Objectives Deliver the stack of letters to Talin Keeneye.

This is a simple quest. Just walk along the road heading west, and you will eventually come to a guy in a tent standing in front of a fire. He will give you two more quests to do.

Quest - The Boar Hunter

Nothing like a day of boar hunting, eh?

Though, here in Coldridge Valley, there are so many boars it almost takes the fun out of it. No need to get them charging. They’re all angry and ready without any help. In fact, recently, there’ve been so many boars in the area, it’s become dangerous for me to do my daily hunting.

Long story short, if you could help me kill some of the boars, I would appreciate it.

Quest Objectives Talin Keeneye would like you to kill 12 Small Crag Boars. This is just like the Trogg quest. Just find a few Small Crag Boars wandering around near the camp and you will be able to finish this quest in no time.

The mail you delivered was not all for Talin. He will direct you where to deliver the remainder of the mail.

This is a simple quest. Just walk along the road heading west, and you will eventually come to a guy in a tent standing in front of a fire. He will give you two more quests to do.

Quest - Coldridge Valley Mail Delivery If I remember correctly, Grelin’s camp is down the road to the southeast. No doubt he’ll be eager to get his mail.

Quest Objectives Deliver the letter to Grelin Whitebeard.

Once again a simple delivery. Just head south along the road and you will come to a camp that Grelin occupies. There are 2 quests near here to do as well, and one is the first timed quest you will come across.

Quest - Scalding Mornbrew Delivery

Gah! I was supposed to get this delicious scalding mornbrew to Durnan Furcutter inside Anvilmar a while ago now, but I had to deliver one to grelin here first. I’ll never make it to Anvilmar before the brew runs cold!

You look fast. Maybe you can take it. This cup will only stay hot for five more minutes, and Durnan didn’t order “chilly” mornbrew, so get going. Anvilmar is to the northeast, a settlement dug into the mountain. Thanks, Borv, and don’t forget to bring me back my mug!

Quest Objectives Take a Scalding Mornbrew to Durnan Furcutter inside Anvilmar before it gets cold in five minutes!

This quest is timed. It is easy though, just head back to Anvilmar. Once there, find Durnan Furcutter near the back of Anvilmar and turn it in. This will put you were you need to be to get 2 more quests.

Quest - Bring Back the Mug

Now that hit the spot! Nothing like a piping hot - nay, SCALDING mornbrew on a cold winter’s day to warm your cackles of yer soul.

Here ya go Borv - Be a pal and take this empty mug back to Nori for me, would ya now.

Quest Objectives Return Nori’s mug to Nori Pridedrift. Very simple. Bring the mug back to the place you got the Scalding Mornbrew quest from. But before you do, remember to pick up the other quest now available in Anvilmar. It also wouldn’t hurt to see your trainer. You can gain new abilities every even level (2, 4, 6, etc).

Quest - A Refugee’s Quandry

We drove the troggs out of Gnomeregan, but then it all went so horribly wrong! Now our home is completely irradiated, and we gnomes have been scattered all over Dun Morogh.

In my haste to get away from the radiation, I lost all my personal belongings and tools. It was the trolls that got them. They stole my chest, my box, and my bucket of bolts! They took them back to their camps southwest of Anvilmar.

I’m no adventurer - could you find my things and bring them here to me, please?
